Seasonal Slumps

It seems to happen every June, just after Memorial Day. I’ve been crazy, can’t-get-another-patient-in kind of busy. Then around the first or second week of June, my appointment book goes on a diet. My patients are on vacation, their kids are home from school, or they’re playing outside. Whatever the reason, my patients aren’t looking for acupuncture, and my volume drops.

Do You Need an Elevator Speech?

When I first began to practice acupuncture, one of the nuggets of advice I received from several quarters was that I would need to develop an elevator speech.  You know, that mini sales pitch that can be delivered in the time it takes to ride in an elevator that describes me and what I do.  So I developed my elevator speech; I crafted a brilliant, slightly witty play on words that supposedly told the world about what a fabulous acupuncturist I am.
